Why the name The Threepiece Suit?
It was important to me that I found a business name which had an association with the idea of 'made to measure'. We like to describe our offering as 'tailored event solutions'. I love that the obscure name gives us the chance to talk about who we are and what we do. It's a great conversation starter! On a personal level, I also have three siblings who have been a constant and ongoing source of support and inspiration. They are my best friends and most trusted confidants so it was nice to also be able to subtly reference them when I dreamt up the business name.
What is your favourite part of working with a couple when planning their wedding?
There is something incredibly special about being able to work with a couple during the planning process of their wedding. Our role is to provide guidance, support and a specialised service but I also like to challenge and inspire when we can. Asking couples to think twice about 'if and why' they want to include certain elements can allow us to uncover the best and most suitable way to showcase them as a couple. I like to think that we utilise our experience to help a couple plan a day that they are comfortable and proud of from the outset.

Most stressful scenario that you have encountered?
I am not easily stressed. In fact, I like to think that there isn't much that can't be overcome in planning a wedding especially when you know that your client has complete trust in you. This year we worked on a destination wedding in Broome and it was a whole new learning experience. Having fresh flowers sourced and shipped to such a remote part of Western Australia was a little stressful but we engaged a fabulous local florist who was a pleasure to deal with. The bride and groom had full faith in me and together with the florist we were able to produce beautiful blooms that everyone loved. If only they knew how far the flowers had travelled!
Piece of advice for couples when working with an event / wedding planner?
Trust is the key. When you work with an expert to plan an event or wedding it is paramount to trust in their skill and experience. Being able to trust in the suppliers and industry colleagues that we engaged for our own wedding was further proof of how important this is. I took my own advice and was thrilled to learn first hand that it is invaluable. Giving your suppliers a little creative license can go a long way too. When given a level of flexibility, the possibilities grow to new and exciting heights!
Trends you are loving right now?
I don't necessarily like to talk too much about trends. Sometimes I worry that couples get caught up in trying to plan a wedding day that is 'on trend' instead of embracing styles and ideas that are truly representative of them. For that reason, I love the fact that it is becoming more and more popular for couples to celebrate their individuality and unique quirks.
"We encourage our couples to use their favourite sayings as part of stationery or to add elements of surprise that reference their sense of humour. Attention to this sort of detail makes guests laugh and helps to create an atmosphere that is genuine and warm - theres no doubt that these are the best settings to create memories!"
