How to add a touch of colour the royal way
Bridal headpieces and crowns are the key to finishing off the perfect look on your wedding day. You may have heard this statement from me in the past. It is an important statement, I will always encourage brides to remember how important accessories are. Headpieces are like the icing on the cake, without a headpiece, you might just be missing that finishing touch that elevates your style to an unforgettable wow moment.
What I’m most loving at the moment is how adventurous and creative brides are today. I’ve created so many coloured headpieces and crowns for my brides this season, and this direction is only growing in further demand as we head into a new wedding season.
We recently witnessed the wedding of Princess Eugenie. As I saw Princess Eugenie wearing a tiara featuring emeralds, I couldn’t help but smile. To say that I was excited would be an understatement. The tiara worn by Princess Eugenie is called the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik. It was lent to Princess Eugenie by grandmother the Queen.
The tiara was made by Boucheron for Margaret Greville, a British society fixture and philanthropist, in 1919. Mrs. Greville bequeathed the tiara to the Queen's mother—also Queen Elizabeth, later the Queen mother—when she died in 1942.
By wearing this stunning emerald and diamond tiara, Princess Eugenie honoured the history and tradition associated with the Royal Family, while also showcasing her own personal style. If there is one piece advice I always share with my brides, it’s about showcasing their own personal style. It’s for this reason why I was so thrilled to see Princess Eugenie wearing that stunning emerald and diamond tiara.

If you visit my social pages, you will see that so many VN brides featured are opting for coloured crowns. We are seeing tones of emerald, light shades of pinks, deep ruby reds and of course blue tones are always a popular choice as “something blue”.
Gold and silver tones also remain very popular, perhaps if you're a most traditional bride that loves golds and silver tones, you could look at incorporating some minimal colours to those neutrals. It’s something a little different, but with a touch of your personality and style.
My advice “don’t ignore tradition but create your own too, be yourself!” If you have a favourite colour that you would like to include into your wedding but can’t decide where or how, perhaps consider it for your headpiece and/or other accessories such as shoes.
Don’t be afraid to get creative. Have some fun, but at the same time keep it classic and timeless. It’s all about the right balance.
