Back when Frank Sinatra held raucous shindigs at his Twin Palms home, Palm Springs was known for its party scene. After some hard-earned changes, the desert town nestled in the Coachella Valley is becoming a destination for laid-back cool once again.

Palm Springs is synonymous with midcentury Modernist design and finds a balance between the past and the present and attracting visitors just as happy climbing canyons and sipping cocktails on a lounge chair as taking in the design and architectural treasures of the past.

Here are a few of OUR favouriteS TO CHECK OUT
while you're there...

ART AND DESIGN

Experience the Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture and Design Center, it has an impressive collection of modernist works that make you appreciate so much of Palm Springs heart and foundation.

COCKTAILS The Ace Hotel

701 East Palm Canyon Drive;
www.acehotel.com/palmsprings

The cool mellow bar pours the classic concoctions like the margarita but they also offer more offbeat options like the Figa (fig-infused vodka with Earl Grey and honey tangerine).

LUXURY RESORT The Parker

4200 E Palm Canyon Drive
www.parkerpalmsprings.com

Formerly Gene Autrey's Melody Ranch, The Parker has had to shed some kitschy history and introduce its own version of eccentric glamour. Set on a 13-acre complex and featuring decor by designer Jonathan Adler, this is one chic, upscale resort. Lush palms and immaculate green lawns that offer plenty of space to relax outdoors and enjoy the surrounding mountain view, be it swinging on a hammock or nestled in a butterfly chair around the fire pit.

SHOP Stroll the Palm Canyon Drive

A strip that's terrific for high-end vintage shopping. Among the many stores that focus on better-with-age décor.

DINE (EDITORS CHOICE)
Rooster and the Pig
356 S. Indian Canyon Drive

The menu is anything but traditional. It is reflective of the authentic produce, herbs and traditional ingredients that Chef and owner Tai Spendley travels each week to source from Bolsa, known as 'Little Saigon' in Orange County.

GET OUT OF TOWN

Hit the road and head out along Highway 74 through rocky mountainous terrains and gain spectacular views of Palm Springs valley. Alternatively head out the opposite direction and take a trip to Joshua Tree National Park and bond with the most spectacular cacti. Make sure to finish the day with a visit to Pappy and Harriet’s, located in a ramshackle-looking Pioneertown. It is a 15 minute drive away from Joshua Tree on a dark, winding road, but it's worth it! The bar has a killer vibe, thanks to a music booker who gets Coachella-bound artists to play on their tiny stages.
