Christina & Christian

The Atlantic Restaurant, Melbourne, Victoria

Photography by Collections Photography

Christina and Christian’s story began when they met through mutual friends. “We were obsessed with each other from the moment we first met, it was an instant connection.” After living together for a couple of years, Christian proposed to Christina towards the end of Melbourne first round of COVID lockdown.

Planning a wedding during COVID

We were originally set to have a March 2021 wedding, however with the uncertainty throughout Victorian lock-downs, we cancelled our initial plans for a bigger wedding. We didn’t want to take any risks, it would be so stressful for couple who were having to reschedule multiple times. We wanted to take charge and just get married already so we brought our wedding forward by four months, taking the opportunity to tie the knot right as restrictions started to ease after Victoria’s second covid lock-down. We found a beautiful restaurant who would fit our immediate families and provide us with a private room.

Overall, once we made the decision to cancel the March wedding, we quickly started looking around for a venue. I started the hunt for a ready made white gown, a make-up artist, florist, photographer and celebrant. We we’re intending to keep our wedding small and relaxed with a touch of elegance. I think we achieved just that and are so happy with the way our day went.

The day

The intention was to keep it very relaxed and I loved that in the morning, we didn’t have any stress. We relaxed in the morning, then I went off to get my hair and make-up done, Christian stayed home to get ready.

Probably one of the most emotional and a little stressful part of the day was walking toward my husband to be with a veil over my head and a strong breeze blowing!

AN INTIMATE DINNER

We wanted a private dining room, who could hold the right numbers to suit our party size, considering covid restrictions. When I came across The Atlantic, the menu, the vibe, the style and the package inclusions was all too appealing.

ALL NIGHT LONG

Having our wedding dinner at The Atlantic in crown was amazing. Our immediate families had the greatest seafood feast! As we had drastically downsided our wedding, we wanted to go all out and make it a great experience for us and our family. Seafood and cocktails, flowed all night long.

We arranged to stay the night at the Crown Towers, it was so good to simply go upstairs when the celebrations ended.

“We highly recommend a Crown restaurant with a terrace/private dining room for a wedding celebration. It’s so beautiful to have all of the lights from the city and the Yarra in sight once the sun goes down. The fire shows are always a hit too.” Christina

FAMILY

I love that throughout the night, our families were just enjoying each other’s company and enjoying great food and beverages. There was no stress about making sure we got around to talking to everyone, stress about the way the event flows, worrying if people are enjoying themselves. It was evident that everyone was having a great time. I decided to have a polaroid camera only during our dinner celebration and it was the best idea, everyone had so much fun taking pictures with it and pasting them into an album. It added an extra element of fun to an already wonderful dinner.

NO DANCING DOESN’T STOP THE PARTY

As it was a dinner and there was no space or capacity to have people dancing, given Victoria’s restrictions. “We were so glad we had the polaroid cameras available to capture some raw moments after the photographer left. Whilst not very clear and immaculate as the professional photo’s, I’m glad we were able to capture some memories of possibly our favourite part of the whole day, the celebration.”

YOUR SUPPLIERS MAKE MEMORIES

Our photographer, Sash from Collections Photography and videographer, Adam from Film My Wedding, were amazing to work with. We aren’t models and these two made us feel so comfortable behind the camera. They captured some beautiful moments for us to cherish forever.

A LITTLE PIECE OF ADVICE ON YOUR PHOTOS

If you feel shy or awkward in a certain angle during photos, you will most probably appear that way in the picture so just relax and enjoy the moment. I was surprised at how in the moment you can get, I forgot there was people watching Christian and I the whole time.
