Inspired by its spectacular oceanfront setting and its namesake being the locally harvested sea salt it serves, Seasalt restaurant offers a tantalising seafood experience in Seminyak. It’s a dash of Japanese infusion with exciting palates and an enticing taste of the sea with its fresh seafood selection. Stepping into Seasalt will take you into what resembles a cosy, stylish beach house, with a vibrant open kitchen that greets you. You can choose to seat inside or on the deck, enjoying the ocean breeze, both add up to a relaxed coastal dining experience. I suggest booking in for a romantic dinner and enjoy the tonal sky show as the sun sets and when night falls enjoy the fire pits roaring with the echo of the ocean crashing.
I can honestly say you have to experience the Seasalt feast. Your host will bring a tray of sourdoughs to your table, accompanied by a little wooden hammer, which is the hammer used in Balinese gamelan music. The host uses the hammer to crack the sea salt crust on all sides. As the brownish salt and shells crumble apart, mimicking the sands on the seashore, a surprise pops out of the middle: it’s a small rillette of mackerel, butter and mayonnaise wrapped in seaweed. It’s very creamy, and becomes a delicious spread for your bread.
