Food for your Hair .. the ABCs
We tend to take more notice of our hair health when we have one of the biggest parties to prepare for! Overstyling, heat, colouring and the environment /weather takes it toll on the overall condition of hair. Your hair appears dull, breaks and looses it’s bounce.
Every bride wants to achieve hair health and generally long luscious hair is the goal. There are a few key ingredients you can include in your diet that ensure you are looking your best on the day! And much like your skin, nails and general health including vitamins in your diet will assist in getting your hair back to looking it’s best.
Many fruits and nuts contain collagen, which is the key protein for healthy hair, as well as other essential vitamins for healthy hair. So we have broken down the ABC of what they do and what you can to eat that will assist in achieving beautiful wedding ready hair!
Vitamin A
Food: Dragonfruit
What it does: Protects your hair from going dry, brittle or breaking off.
Vitamin B
Food: Citrus Fruits, Avocado, Banana, Berries
What it does: Vitamin B activates cell renewal, including the reproduction of hair follicles.
An important B-vitamin called Biotin is in charge of maintaining healthy skin and hair, which in turns reduces how long it takes for your hair to grow. It assists existing hair growth and produces keratin that works to increase elasticity and give you that bounce.
Niacin is another B vitamin which assists the production of fatty acids needed to stimulate hair growth, making your mane more strong and shiny. It also promotes blood supply to the scalp.
Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) strengthens and nourishes the hair follicle.
Vitamin C
Food: Avocado, Bananas, Berries, Cantaloupe, Citrus Fruits
What it does: Vitamin C protects your hair and skin by fighting off damaging free radicals (toxins).
Vitamin E
Food: Mango, Avocado, Kiwi Fruit
What it does: Vitamin E is great for general scalp health, leading to healthier hair. It promotes more vigorous hair growth.
A little tip; massaging pure vitamin E oil into the scalp is said to increase blood circulation and strengthen the hair follicles.
